What We Did

Following an extensive site survey, it was clear there was a lot of work to be done on this property. And with so many other contractors on-site, the project required careful planning and coordination. With that in mind, we broke our work into four phases: Gutters, walls, roof, and canopy.

We began by conducting extensive cleaning of the property’s guttering. Over the years, rust, corrosion, dirt and debris had accumulated within the gutters. Not only did this negatively impact appearance, but it also increased the risk of drainage issues. Once cleaned, we applied HD Sharmans’ Plygene® Gutterline System to create a waterproof barrier and extend the guttering’s lifespan.

We then focused on the property’s wall cladding. It was clear that little maintenance had been done in the past, so a deep clean was necessary before any restoration work could begin. Using our 3000 PSI jet washer, we removed all grime and mould from the surfaces. After that, we filled in holes and repaired all cosmetic damage to the cladding. Once the surfaces met our quality standards, we began coating the cladding with the new spec B&Q white and orange paint. We also sprayed all the window frames and curtain walling with a uniform coat, resulting in a fantastic finish.

During our initial inspections of the roof, we discovered significant cut-edge corrosion on the sheet metal. If left untreated, this gradual degradation could lead to costly leaks and severe structural damage. To address this issue, we applied a cut-edge corrosion treatment at the edges of the roof sheets, effectively removing the rust and restoring the protective layer of the metal. In addition, we installed a mansafe system on the roof to ensure a safer working environment for everyone on site and for those performing maintenance in the future.

The final task in this large project was to restore the canopy that covered the garden centre at the back of the property. Over time, these thin canopy roofs can accumulate moss and mould, but cleaning them requires extra care because they are very fragile. That’s why we used a soft wash to gently clean the surface, and we had it looking brand new in no time. We rounded off the project by cleaning the canopy gutters, and after eight weeks on site, we’d completely transformed the property.

After careful planning and efficient execution, we completed our work ahead of schedule, much to our client’s delight. They were thrilled that we were able to get their store looking its best before opening its doors to the public.
